Teaching English
Hi, I’m Natalie — a UX designer, writer, traveller, and qualified TEFL teacher. I’ve spent my adult life moving between countries, meeting people from every corner of the world, and working with web and product teams from huge global corporates all the way to tiny start‑ups.
Alongside my UX design career, I write short stories (you can find them at Small Stories), which has shaped the way I teach: with imagination, warmth, and a focus on human connection.
After years of helping teams communicate clearly online, I realised how much I love helping people communicate clearly in English too — especially learners who want to sound friendly, confident, and natural.
Learners often bring so much kindness and humour to their communication, and I wanted to build a course that supports that, not flattens it.
This course is my way of bringing everything together: my design background, my writing, my travels, and my love of teaching.
It’s practical, creative, and relaxed — a space where learners can grow their confidence without pressure, and enjoy English as something expressive, warm, and genuinely useful.
What can you expect from the lessons?
Rewriting Business Emails in a
Friendly, Conversational Tone
(1 hour total: 40 minutes main content + 20 minutes take home task)
Lesson Objective
By the end of this lesson, learners will confidently rewrite formal or overly direct business
emails into clear, friendly, conversational English — a communication style that is
increasingly preferred in international workplaces.
Reading Out Loud to
Understand Tone, Intonation & Rhythm
(1 hour total: 40 minutes main lesson + 20 minutes take home task)
Lesson Objective
Learners will practise reading aloud with correct tone, intonation, and rhythm, using
short excerpts from Green Eggs and Ham to build confidence, fluency, and expressive
speech.
Draw It! Visualising Characters
& Settings from The Crumlins
(1 hour total: 40 minutes main lesson + 20 minutes take‑home task)
Lesson Objective
Learners will read ,my short
story The Crumlins and create
simple drawings of the
characters and settings. They
will then describe their drawings
to classmates, building
confidence in spoken English,
descriptive vocabulary, and
creative interpretation.

Reading a Formal Letter &
Writing a Response to Challenge a Fine
(1 hour total: 40 minutes main lesson + 20 minutes take home task)
Lesson Objective
Learners will read a real formal letter (I’ll use one I got with a parking fine!) and practise
replying in clear, polite, persuasive English — with the goal of challenging the fine and
presenting a strong case for reconsideration.
Listen & Explain Meaning
Lesson Objective
Learners will listen to American British English and practise explaining meaning, themes, emotions,
and imagery in their own words — building listening comprehension, inference skills, and confidence discussing abstract ideas.
